Mechanic’s Liens are a creature of Statute in the State of South Carolina whereby, the South Carolina Legislature passed laws which would protect contractors and sub-contractors (any one rendering labor on real property) if they have not been paid after work has been performed. Mechanic Lien Law includes actually filing a Mechanic’s Lien within ninety (90) days of the last work performed and then foreclosing on that lien within six (6) months of the last work performed. Any contractor, sub-contractor, or laborer who wishes to protect his rights through South Carolina Law, should be aware of the general terms of the Mechanic’s Lien Statutes. For most contractors and sub-contractors, the failure of a homeowner to pay in a timely manner can lead to financial disaster. Thus, protecting said contractors and sub-contractors rights becomes extremely important in today’s competitive construction industry. This firm represents both contractors and sub-contractors in attempting to collect unpaid fees for work performed, both thru actions for breach of contract, as well as, the filing of liens pursuant to the Mechanic’s Lien Statute. We also represent homeowners in defending liens that have been wrongfully filed.
